All about printing and plotting in AutoCAD
Learn to plot 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings with layouts, viewports, plot styles, and annotative scaling, for users who know AutoCAD basics.

About this course

In this course, you learn how to produce clean, professional print-ready drawings from AutoCAD, starting with paper space and finishing with plotting 3D models.

The first and largest section covers layouts. You set units and limits, work in paper space, create and import page setups, and control the scale of objects in viewports.

You manage layer visibility in individual viewports, insert a title block and ruler into your layout, and plot both from model space at the proper scale and from a layout.

The advanced plotting section explains how color-dependent and named plot style tables control your output, and how annotative properties and annotative objects keep text and symbols correctly sized at every scale.

You also use the Markup Set Manager and take a detailed look at plot stamps.

The final section applies these skills to 3D drawings. You create 2D views from 3D models, add section and detail views, change view properties, and plot from a layout, then create views in model space and plot 3D drawings directly from model space.

Each section includes a practice exercise and a quiz.

By the end, you will be able to set up layouts and plot settings that give you professional, correctly scaled prints for both 2D and 3D drawings.

Who should take this course

This course is for you if you know the basics of AutoCAD, such as simple draw and modify commands and working with layers, and want your drawings to print correctly.

It suits drafters, architects, engineers, and students who struggle with layout scales, viewports, or plot styles.

It also fits AutoCAD users who plot from model space today and want a reliable layout-based workflow with title blocks, annotative scaling, and plot stamps.

Pre-requisites

You should know basic AutoCAD draw and modify commands and how to work with layers.

AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT 2016 or a later version on the Windows operating system is recommended for this course.
