<h2>About this course</h2>In this course, you design a complete house in AutoCAD, taking it from a hand sketch to a full drawing set. You start by sketching exterior and interior walls, windows, a grid system, columns, dimensions, and landscaping, then bring the site into AutoCAD by importing from your phone, placing Google Earth placemarkers, and scaling PDF and xref images. Next, you draw the floor plan with layers, grid lines, walls, user-defined doors and windows, wall openings, annotations, dimensions, and blocks, and confirm it fits on the site. You then draw all four elevations with roofs and finishing, and build two sections through the plinth foundation, windows, doors, ceiling, walls, and gable and hip roofs. Roof plans cover gable and hipped roofs and roof flow. The site plan section is one of the largest, covering gates, roads, trees and shrubs, front and backyard design, hatch boundaries and leak fixes, plotting, and land use calculations. You add detailed callouts, build title blocks with attribute tables and viewports, and export, plot, and batch plot to PDF. Structural work follows, with beam design as the largest section: you prepare structural drawings from architectural ones, design and annotate primary and secondary beams, and detail beam sections with main and stirrup rebar, then move on to column and foundation sections.
