Design for manufacturing for sheet metal

This course allows engineers and designers to create Sheet Metal parts with proper design considerations.

About this course.

In this course, we will explore sheet metal fabrication, a versatile and widely used manufacturing process.

We will begin with a brief overview of what sheet metal fabrication involves, followed by practical Design for Manufacturing (DFM) tips to help you create parts that are efficient, practical, and well-suited for sheet metal production.

During this section we will look at material choice, hole placement, fastener choice, tolerancing, flat patterns and much more.

After covering these essential DFM principles, we will delve deeper into their application through a practical Case Study, where we will make a sheet metal enclosure using some of skills we have learned.

Who should take this course.

This course is for designers, engineers, students and hobbyists who have some 3D modelling knowledge but are trying to improve their Sheet Metal manufactruing skills.

Pre-requisites.

Solidworks 2022 or later version is recommended for this course but earlier versions can be used.

Access to SolidWorks software is optional and not essential.
